Franklin Roosevelt said that we have nothing to fear but fear itself. Which raises a question about horror - are there any good horror stories that deal with that theme? Stories in which phobias, paranoias or other irrational fears are the source of the horror? Or that deal with the mechanism by which fear is created? Or stories in which a character’s own fears are exploited?
