Richard B. Altick’s Victorian Studies in Scarlet includes accounts of various celebrated 19th century murders. Jack the Ripper is excluded, because the book confines itself to cases that actually went to trial, but the other celebrated serial killers of this era are dealt with - Burke and Hare in the early part of the century, and Dr Thomas Neill Cream in the latter part of the century.
Burke and Hare have been the subjects of various horror movies and stories, but have there been any horror novels or stories inspired by the amazingly creepy career of Dr Cream?
