gothic from europe

I brought this up on another community but it might be worth raising here as well.
When we think of gothic literature it's likely that most of us think of British gothic literature, and then perhaps American gothic as an afterthought. The wider sphere of European literature is often ignored. Which is why I found The Dedalus Book of French Horror: The 19th Century to be such a revelation. And a very wonderful revelation it was too.
Do you have any favourite French gothic tales? Or gothic tales from other European countries?
