What you do with yourself?:
I'm going to learn me some monster makin' at the Tom Savini special effects makeup course in 2 weeks (!). Besides that, I've always been a bit of an artist in my spare time. Currently working on a Graphic Novel and various short stories that never seem to finish themselves.
Favourite horror or ghost story author, and why?:
There's quite a few, I grew up reading Koontz and Lovecraft. And now I've expanded into weird fiction more, and my favorites have been Algernon Blackwood and Arthur Machen for a while. Particularly Blackwood, I seem to be drawn into his stories more than any others.
Favourite horror-film and director?:
Depends on the specific genre, really. I have far too many. I love Halloween (and John Carpenter in general), as a classic horror/slasher with a slight supernatural twist. Eraserhead, Jacob's Ladder and The Cell also come to mind (although none of them are technically horror). Nothing gives me the creeps quite like japanese horror films, Ju-On: The Grudge and Uzumaki (Spiral) being at the top of my list so far. Anything with werewolves or monsters makes me happy too. I don't really have a favorite director, but Nakata Hideo (Ringu, Darkwater) and George Romero are certainly up there.
How did you get into horror/the supernatural?:
I've always had a fascination with the supernatural and the dark side of things. My favorite holiday was always halloween, I've always liked monsters rather than felt afraid of them and my favorite shows and movies as a kid were those leaning towards the horror genre (are you afraid of the dark, goosebumps, etc) and I think I started reading Koontz in 5th grade. I think it helped that my mom is big on the horror genre, as well.
Ever had any strange,inexplicable and/or scary experiences of your own?:
None to speak of really. Which is unfortunate. I'm always on the look out for spooky and strange things. But I never seem to find them :P
