Do you think horror represents a fundamentally pessimistic view of life, the universe and humanity (evil is everywhere, humanity is corrupt and vicious, life is futile), or a fundamentally optimistic view (evil can be defeated)?
Do you think that horror and gothic can be distinguished from each other partly because they take a different stance on this issue? Is horror optimistic and gothic pessimistic?
